It is possible that this breed of dog arrived in the mountains with their shepards and sheep as early as 3000 B.C. Some interesting facts on these dogs:

  • In 1675 they were adopted as the Royal Dog of France
  • In 1662 these dogs were brought to Newfoundland and started breeding with black curly coated retrievers, thus starting the new breed of Newfoundlands.
Newfoundlands:
Newfoundlands are very similar to the Great Pyrenees. They look almost exactly the same, except for their color which is brown, grey, black and white or black. Some interesting facts about these dogs:

  • Just as all large dogs, the Newfoundland is prone to Hip Dysplasia and Elbow Dysplasia.
  • Nana, the maid dog from "Peter Pan" is a Newfoundland.
Giraffes:
Giraffes are found in Africa. Male giraffes grow to about 16-18 feet tall and weigh 1700-4200 lbs. Females are from 14-15 feet tall and weigh many hundreds of pounds less than the larger males. Some interesting facts about giraffes:

  • The giraffe is related to deer and cattle.
  • The giraffe prefers areas with Acacia growth.
Hippos:
The hippo's full name is hippopotamus amphibias. They live in sub-Saharan Africa, in lakes and rivers. Some interesting facts about hippos:

  • Hippos and whales may have shared the same semi-aquatic ancestor.
  • Many species of hippopotamus are becoming extinct.

Chimanzees:
Chimpanzees live in Africa. They are part of the family related to Gorillas, Oragutans, and Humans. Some interestion facts about
chimps:

  • In a few African villages, chimps have been kept as house pets.
  • Apes are mentioned by the Bible and Aristotle.

WICKED
Wicked is a musical about what happened before, during and after "The Wizard of Oz". Elphaba and Glinda the Good knew each other and the story behind everything is really amazing!
